Orbitt appoints new Board Advisor to support trade finance growth

Orbitt today announced that Ian Henderson has joined as an Advisory Board Member as the platform sharpens its focus on the trade finance market.

With over 30 years’ banking experience gained in the Americas, Africa, CEE and Asia, and 21 years in senior positions covering origination, structured trade finance and syndication, Ian will provide timely strategic direction as Orbitt deepens its offering for the continent’s trade finance funds and institutional lenders.

Ian’s experience in all commodity groups ranging from oil and gas to metals and mining and agriculture will add impetus to the management team as they seek to increase the $400m of terms already secured by corporates and traders through the platform.

“I’ve witnessed trade establish itself as a very strong asset class across Africa. Digital solutions for origination and distribution like Orbitt are crucial to increasing the velocity of transactions and I’m very excited to start building on the four years of hard work they have put in to date.”

Previous roles have also given Ian practical exposure to supply chain finance, physical commodity trading and political and credit risk insurance products.

“With such a broad spectrum of experience and fantastic credibility within the industry we’re confident that Ian will provide additional momentum for us as we go through the next stage of growth,” says Lanre Oloniniyi, Co-Founder of Orbitt. “Our trade finance product is becoming much more sophisticated and responding to the needs of lenders and corporates respectively. The strong Board of Advisors we now have will give us confidence in building a platform that delivers significant impact for intra-Africa and cross-continental trade.”
